“I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed.”

So much bloodshed has occured due to a complete misunderstanding of this simple verse. Christians went to a World War to defend Jews based upon just this one verse. And boy did they misinterprete it.

How in hell did Jews get Christians to believe they ever had to worship Jesus-denying Jews or Israel in order to obtain salvation?

Follow this very carefully. It explains everything about Genesis 12:3:

NOTE: The word “thee” is a second-person singular pronoun.

It means that God is speaking to Abraham alone, about Abraham alone.

It means that those who bless Abraham will be blessed by God. And those who curse Abraham will be cursed by God.

Does not say to bless "the tribes of Judea", does not say to bless "the Jews", does not say to bless "the nation of Israel".

It only says to bless Abraham.

Christian Zionists have twisted this passage to say that the blessing and cursing applies to Jews and the modern State of Israel.

Is that what it says?

No. It says anyone who blesses Abraham will be blessed and anyone who curses Abraham will be cursed.

Now, let us fast-forward 2000 years to the time of Jesus….

“They [the Jews] answered [Jesus], and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham.

But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not.”
-John 8:39-40

AND…

“Abraham your [the Jews] father rejoiced that he might see my [Jesus’] day: he saw it, and was glad. The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.”
-John 8:56-58

“And think not to say within yourselves [the Jews], We have Abraham for our father. For I tell you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. For now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire."
-Matthew 3:10

Then St. Paul tells us…

“As it is written: Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice. Know ye therefore, that they who are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing, that God justifieth the Gentiles by faith, told unto Abraham before: In thee shall all nations be blessed.” (Galatians 3:6-8)

So both Jews and Gentiles are the “Children of Abraham” only if they have Faith in God, by accepting Jesus Christ as Messiah and King, and becoming Christians.

So the blessing and cursing passage in Genesis 12:3 applies to Christians.

Christians bless Abraham, and we live according to his Faith, therefore we are blessed as Christians because of it.

The Jews of today claim Abraham as their father, just as they did 2000 years ago, but curse him by their actions, because they reject Abraham’s Faith in Jesus as his promised Messiah and King.

Do you see the perversion and the twisting of Scripture yet?

Christian Zionists have literally deceived an entire generation of Protestants into believing they have to bless a Jewish government in the Middle East, and everything it does, lest God curse them.

This is wrong.

The blessing applies to those who bless Abraham and follow his Faith (Christians), and the cursing applies to those who claim to have Abraham as their father, but reject his faith in God and his Messiah (Jews).

See, the New Testament explains all this to Christians. Christians do not have to worship another faith to maintain their own faith.
