50 Constitutions can't be wrong

You may not be aware that Separation of Church and State was not the only Separation the Founders envisioned. They also strived to have a Separation of Family and State, as well as a Separation of Individual and State. Some Americans call this particular form of Separation, liberty. Other Americans call this form, Freedom.

Furthermore, while most are aware of a horizontal Separation of Judicial, Legislative and Executive which we like to call "checks and balances", most rarely think of the vertical Separation of Federal and State.

The Tenth Amendment was to guarantee that the States would not be micromanaged from Washington. Prior to the adoption of the disastrous 17th Amendment, the Constitution had put teeth to this Separation by allowing states to directly appoint the Senators for their states. This would guarantee that the States had a "veto" against any federal incursion in their area of authority. Once the 17th Amendment, along with its kissing cousin the 16th Amendment (Income Tax), was adopted, federal governmental power was fully unleashed.

The 1st Amendment begins "Congress shall make no law..." States, on the other hand, up until the 14th Amendment, were fully allowed to make laws concerning religion. The 14th Amendment handed the federal government all the power it needed to micromanage the states, by dictating what religious beliefs the states could have -- in practice -- only atheism. Prior to the 14th Amendment, Pennsylvania was a haven for Quakers, Maryland for Catholics and so on.

With this freedom, all 50 states uniformly agreed in their Constitutions that God was central to their lives, as expressed in this list:
